Energy-Efficient and Smart Buildings
Work has been carried out on the design of nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB), focusing efforts on La Harinera. In this case, an analysis and modelling of its current state has been carried out as a preliminary step to defining renovation and efficiency proposals.
At the same time, the development of the La Harinera Living Lab has been promoted, which will serve as a space for experimentation in energy efficiency technologies, intelligent management systems and sustainable urban renovation solutions.
Another advance has been the creation of digital twins for La Harinera and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. These virtual replicas will make it possible to simulate different usage and efficiency scenarios, facilitating both energy monitoring and decision-making in refurbishment and management.
Finally, the Chair continues to participate in the European URBAN MOME network and the EBENTO (Horizon Europe) project, which enable the sharing of learning and methodologies with other European cities that are moving towards the efficiency and digitalisation of their buildings.
Together, these projects form a line of action that integrates energy refurbishment, digitalisation and international collaboration, with the aim of transforming public buildings into benchmarks for urban sustainability. Formalised as a separate line of action in 2025, it draws on the Chair’s previous experience in energy efficiency and smart building management, bringing continuity, consistency and greater visibility to the overall strategy
