Valencia has been chosen by the European Commission as one of the 100 climate-neutral European cities (Climate Neutral Cities Mission). In total, seven Spanish cities are integrated into the European Cities Mission (Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, València, Valladolid, Vitoria-Gasteiz and Zaragoza), closely coordinated on the CitiES 2030 platform, led by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and facilitated by the Horizon Europe project ‘NetZeroCities’.
UPV-City
The UPV supports the València 2030 mission, as does the University of Valencia. The UPV’s participation in the Mission has yielded initiatives such as the UPV Living Lab, a laboratory on campus to achieve the UPV’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030.
In this context, the Chair participates in the following initiatives:
- Annual conferences of UPV researchers who participate in the UPV-City binomial and in the Valencia climate mission
- Generation of decarbonization scenarios for the UPV in 2040
- Survey of the university community on decarbonization measures at the UPV
- Support for the UPV Living lab
- Participation in the Valencia Green Employment Group
