The Urban Energy Transition Chair team has contributed to the publication of the article “Optimizing Bifacial Solar Modules with Trackers: Advanced Temperature Prediction Through Symbolic Regression”, recently published in the international journal Energies.
The study introduces an innovative model for predicting the temperature of bifacial photovoltaic modules with trackers, based on symbolic regression through genetic algorithms. Using high-resolution data collected from a 19.9 MW bifacial PV plant in San Marcos (Colombia), the model demonstrates a high level of accuracy and interpretability, outperforming conventional methods such as NOCT or empirical regressions.
This work strengthens the Chair’s commitment to research in advanced renewable energy systems and highlights the role of technological innovation, applying genetic algorithms to optimize the design and operation of solar systems.
